With great pleasure, the organising committee wishes to announce Burren Charity Challenge 2009!!.....which will take place at 1.30pm on Saturday March 20th, 2010 in Carran, Co Clare (registration from 10.30am to 12.30 at Cassidy`s Pub and restaurant)
Download sponsorship cards….. and this year there will be a free T-Shirt for participants - minimum entry is 30 Euro (kids free) - as well as soup and scones in Cassidy`s Pub and Restaurant afterwards.
As was the case last year participants can chose an event(s) that best suits their fitness and ability from:
- 10km Walk/Run
- 40km Cycle
- Duathlon option (40km cycle followed by 5k run!).
All the family are welcome and if nothing else, the soup and scones (kindly organised by Cassidy`s Pub and restaurant) afterwards will feed the whole family!
Last year, over €18,000 was raised in aid of the Clare Haven (www.clarehaven.ie) and a chemotherapy programme in
Tanzania's only children's cancer unit run by Irish paediatrician , Dr Patricia Scanlon.That is some days work!!!
This year we`re hoping you`ll outdo last years fantastic efforts to raise money for the worthy causes of :
- Stella Maris day centre (Registered Charity CHY16436). This centre provides day service facilities for older people in the communities of North and West Clare.
- The Billy Riordan Memorial Clinic (www.billysmalawiproject.org/) which provides primary health care for an approximate population of 15,000 in a very remote and under-resourced region of
Malawi in southern
Africa.

History
Theis a fundraising event that takes place in the village of Carran in the heart of the Burren in Co Clare (see map) on the 27th of December in association with Burren Cycling Club and Kilnaboy Athletics Club. This is the 9th year of the event and past charities supported include Goal, Trocaire, St. John of God Menni services, Alzheimers Society, Concern, Galway and Clare Hospices, Clare Haven and Tanzanian childrens Chemotherapy programme.
